Origin of the Basilidog

Basilidogs (Snuppies) came to be when Bandicorp Labs, a small independent research group, was commissioned by their parent company (BioTechnia Genetic Research Group™) to conduct research using DNA donated anonymously to them. The genetic samples were compatible enough with one another that Bandicorp Labs was able to succeed in their research with in 62 months of beginning their experiment!

The First Basilidog

				    NAME: Melon
TRIAL: CY8152
stat: 41"h, 29"b, 117lbs
NOTE(S): A successful gestation! DNA strain contains chromosomes belonging to Rinkhals Cobra and Shiba-Inu. Confirmed to be venomous. Venom properties are untested due to lack of funding.

The first successful genetic experiment that made it through full in-vitro development was called CY8152, later on nicknamed "Melonbaby". Her genetic makeup can be found in all Basilidogs. Bandicorp Labs states that, after 62 months and thousands of failed gestations, the success of CY8152 may have been due to a mutation that occured within the CY-series of trials. Nevertheless, Melon was born healthy and–to the suprise of all–confirmed to be fertile. Bandicorp Labs is currently prohibiting breeding of any kind with their specimen, but the precense of ova may lead to new possibilities to consider in the future.

Biology

Over the years, Basilidogs developed a unique ability to be independent and exhibit the approximate intelligence of a 10-year-old child. They can live both dependently or independently, with an average lifespan of about 50 years. With optimal living conditions, Basilidogs can easily live an additional 15 years or more. Despite their ability to thrive in many different habitats, they very are very loyal creatures that enjoy living as pets or working animals!

What Were They Developed For?

Basilidogs were developed in order to advance bioengineered animals for use of the military and other powerful entities, but after observing the friendly and highly-intelligent nature of the specimen, the DNA strand was marketed and sold to smaller coroporations. Today, Basilidogs can be found working in insitutions such as hospitals, therapy centers, retirement homes, or even in the common house hold as a faithful companion!

Going Forward

BandiCorp Labs has been awarded a patent for their bio-engineered genomes, and word has gone around that they intend to implement new biological features for their specimen...
